Dr. Laura Williams graduated from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and has been in private clinical practice since that time. Special interests include emergency critical care medicine, alternative medicine, and equine performance medicine. She holds advanced certification in Veterinary Acupuncture and is certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association in animal chiropractic.
Currently Dr. Williams owns and practices at the Animal Emergency Hospital of St Johns County. In 2010, the practice expanded its scope to 24/7 care. The hospital now provides low cost wellness services for horses, dogs and cats as well as continuing the emergency and critical care services. Dr. Williams continues her equine performance consulting practice, and divides her time between her farms in Florida and North Carolina.
Dr. Lenice McCoy received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Ross University in 2006. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. McCoy had a vibrant career in the human medical imaging field. This previous experience has translated into an interest in advanced veterinary imaging techniques. She is currently pursuing advanced training in veterinary ultrasound. Dr. McCoy will be pursuing advanced radiology training at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine beginning in the summer of 2011. She will continue to be available to our staff doctors for imaging consults.
Dr. Kristen Jones was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. She received her undergraduate degree from UNF in 2005. She graduated from Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Dr Jones joins the Animal Emergency Hospital staff, returning to the emergency medicine field that she enjoyed as a technician prior to veterinary school. She has a special interest in emergency and critical care, and surgery. Dr Jones spends her free time with her close family and pets.
Rejoining the staff after a few years away is Dr. Mike Tajmir. Dr. Tajmir graduated from Ross University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Dr. Tajmir began his career at the Animal Emergency Hospital as a technician. We are happy to have him return as a member of our team of doctors.
